Two car bombs in southern Syria were responsible for the deaths of at least 12 people Friday. The attack comes at the end of a week which saw a spike in violence in the war-torn country, and just days after attacks on Aleppo University in the country’s north left 87 dead. Also on Friday, fighting broke out between Syrian and opposition forces in the Palestinian refugee camp in Yarmouk. The U.N. Relief and Works Agency, which helps manage the camp, indicated that the 12 dead and 20 injured included several children. Fighting in Syrian refugee camps has triggered refugee flights to Jordan and Lebanon, where frustration and violence borne of poor conditions have contributed to regional destabilization.
