The statements come as Abbas’s Fatah faction, which controls the West Bank, has unveiled a new logo implying the elimination of Israel. The commitment to waging so-called ‘lawfare’ and the new logo are in tension with recent statements made by Abbas to a Turkish media outlet indicating that Fatah does in fact recognize Israel’s legitimacy.
