Palestinians Praise Jerusalem Synagogue Terror Attack That Killed Four

At least four people were killed and six injured in a terror attack at a synagogue in Jerusalem’s Har Nof neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Two terrorists, apparently from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, entered the Kehilat Yaakov synagogue around 7 a.m. during morning prayers and attacked worshipers with a gun, a meat cleaver and an ax, The Times of Israel reported. Both attackers were killed by police.

The Jerusalem Post reported that among those killed was Rabbi Moshe Twersky of Yeshiva Torat Moshe.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Fatah praised the attack (Arabic link), calling it a natural response to Israel’s policies. Palestinian users in social networks celebrated the terror attack, with some twitter accounts commenting:

“Jerusalem operation is a triumph for the dignity of the Palestinians: a state of joy and jubilation permeated the Palestinian street in the Gaza Strip”

“We count on you, Jerusalem Champions, God chose you from us… Death to Israel”

“Allahu Akbar, respect to the resistance!”

A Hamas official said the attack was revenge for the alleged “killing of an Arab bus driver in Jerusalem.” However, despite claims by the driver’s family that he had been killed by Jewish extremists, security cameras showed no other people in the area where the driver was found hanged in a bus, and the autopsy concluded that it was a suicide.

Secretary of State John Kerry condemned the attack and “blamed the attack on Palestinian calls for ‘days of rage’ and said Palestinian leaders must take serious steps to refrain from such incitement.” Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attack but “also condemned attacks on the al-Aqsa Mosque and incitement by Israeli ministers.”
