Day 48 – Architect of the “July War”; Iran Refuses Parchin Inspection; PA Official: Hamas = ISIS

Today was the forty eighth day of Operation Protective Edge.

The Tower today covered a profile of Hamas commander Raed al-Attar who was killed last week along with Mohammed Abu Shamala and Mohammad Barhoum. Al-Attar, in addition to having a twenty year career in terror, was the Hamas commander responsible for planning a “July war.” Israel responded to an escalation of rocket attacks on July 8, with Operation Protective Edge.

Iran once again is not cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), by refusing the agency access to its Parchin site. The Parchin facility is where Iran is believed to have carried out exploding bridge wire (EBW) experiments. EBW are a necessary component for detonating a nuclear bomb. Such research would indicate that Iran has a military nuclear program. It’s refusal to grant access to Parchin reinforces the suspicion that Iran is hiding the true extent of its nuclear program.

Tayyib Abd al-Rahim, Secretary-General of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ office echoed the assessment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Middle East experts, that Hamas is similar to the Islamic State of Iraq in Syra (ISIS). Specifically, al-Rahim said that Hamas taking people in public and shooting them was “reminiscent of the summary executions carried out by Wahhabi militant groups in other parts of the Middle East.”
