Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, tweeted a graphic depicting President Barack Obama holding a gun to his head and featuring a quote calling the United Stated “aggressive and criminal,” USA Today reported Saturday.
“US president has said he could knock out Iran’s military. We welcome no war, nor do we initiate any war, but..” reads the caption above the tweet sent by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on @khamenei_ir, his English language account.

USA Today also noted that Khamenei issued a similar tweet just days after concluding the nuclear deal with the West.
The latest tweet on Khamenei’s account mirrors a similar one sent July 17 that didn’t contain an image, but said: “US pres. said he could knock out Iran’s army. Of course we neither welcome, nor begin war, but in case of war, US will leave it disgraced.”
That tweet came just three days after the United States and other world powers reached a historic agreement with Iran that called for limits on Tehran’s nuclear program in return for lifting economic sanctions that have crippled Iran’s economy.
Khamenei’s Twitter account often publishes lines from his speeches, including a recent series of “red lines” that he said Iran would not cross to achieve a nuclear deal with the P5+1 nations. He has also used Twitter to accuse Western governments of being under control of Zionists.
Late last year, Khamenei tweeted out his plans for destroying Israel. In the past, he has also used Twitter as a platform for calling Israel the “Sinister, Unclean Rabid Dog” of the Middle East.
