An Israeli couple were killed in a shooting while driving between Itamar and Elan Moreh in the West Bank.
The assailants reportedly shot multiple times from at least two weapons, a rifle and a handgun, before speeding away in their car, which was later abandoned. The Times of Israel reported that four children were also in the car but were unhurt.
Reports are emerging of clashes between Israelis and Palestinians in the area.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon criticized Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for using “inflammatory rhetoric” regarding the Temple Mount, the holiest cite in Judaism and the third-holiest in Islam. Abbas proclaimed in a speech two weeks ago that Jews would not be allowed to defile holy sites in Jerusalem with their “filthy feet,” and blessed “every drop of blood … spilled for Jerusalem.”
