Hezbollah claimed responsibility yesterday for the unmanned aircraft shot down over Israel last weekend, with the group’s leader Hassan Nasrallah boasting on Hezbollah TV that he was trying to “surprise the Zionist enemy.” He also vowed that the group would launch more drones in the future. An Iranian proxy that Lebanese opposition figures recently accused of seeking to dominate all of Lebanon, Hezbollah has also been identified by American officials as being behind the deadly July terrorist attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria. The group’s ongoing attacks against Israel and ambitions in Lebanon have long been identified by senior diplomats as a threat to regional security.
