Fresh rioting has erupted in Cairo in the aftermath of a power grab by Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. The Muslim Brotherhood-linked President has according to CNN “show[n] no signs of backing down” from a constitutional decree that gave him vast powers and insulated his actions from judicial review. The protests triggered by Morsi’s move are the largest since those that led to the overthrown of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, and there are fears that they will undermine efforts to stabilize Egypt’s political and economic institutions.
