Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosor harshly criticized the U.N. yesterday over the Security Council’s failure to condemn Hamas’s escalating rocket fire campaign. The decision contrasted with the UNSC’s prompt condemnation of the Syrian rockets that recently struck Turkey. Prosor’s criticism echoes similar comments made by the ambassador last February, when the UNSC declined to condemn a rocket fire campaign that targeted Israeli civilians over the course of a week and a half. The ambassador is also in the midst of an ongoing campaign to force the U.N. to hold accountable an official who in March tweeted a picture of a Palestinian child covered in blood and falsely claimed the girl was killed by an IDF strike. The official’s account was named “Long live Palestine” and the tweet bemoaned that “Palestine is bleeding. Another child killed by Israel… Another father carrying his child to a grave in Gaza.” An investigation into that tweet concluded earlier this week and findings have yet to be released.
