The general election taking place in the United Kingdom today is not a normal election. We are on uncharted territory with the main opposition party running with a candidate for prime minister who is a threat to our national security — no, I am not exaggerating.
Jeremy Corbyn over recent weeks has tried to cultivate an image of moderation and even had the audacity to make security one of his central election themes in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Manchester and London. But despite all the polishing and whitewashing, Corbyn has amassed so much dirt that’s impossible to wash off.
Over the course of his 35-year-long career, he has taken every opportunity to prove his disdain for the West and his admiration for the people that seek to destroy us.
Corbyn and Labour’s shadow chancellor, John McDonnell, have long been associated with the IRA. While the Irish terrorist organization’s “armed struggle,” as Corbyn called it, was at its height, he attended and spoke at official commemorations to honor dead IRA terrorists. McDonnell later received a special award by Sinn Fein, the IRA’s political wing, for the “unfailing political and personal support (…) over many years.”
As well as the IRA, Corbyn and his fellow travellers have made excuses and, in some cases expressed solidarity, with the butcher of the Balkan Slobodan Milosevic and Libya’s bloodthirsty former dictator Muammar Gaddafi as well as Venezuelan autocrat Hugo Chavez and Cuba’s Fidel Castro. Corbyn wrote in a book published in 2003 that the Soviet Union was “no real threat” and that North Korea, the country with the highest rate of modern day slavery, is “not a rogue state.”
When Islamic State took over large swathes of Iraq and Syria in the summer of 2014 and the U.S.-led coalition took military action against the terrorist organization, the Stop the War Coalition, a far-left activist group chaired until recently by Corbyn, showed its true nature: They are not anti-war. They are simply anti-West.
The group aggressively campaigned against Western military intervention, but failed to mobilize against the indiscriminate bombing of hospitals, schools, mosques and market places by Syrian regime forces and their Russian allies. The coalition even refused to campaign for airdrops of food and medical supplies for civilians under siege. Corby defended their action on Iranian and Russian state TV, two brutal dictatorships he has long supported over the West. From the Iranians, he took 20,000 pounds for five appearances on their propaganda channel.
And then there is his long history with Islamic extremists. Corbyn famously described Hamas and Hezbollah — two internationally condemned terrorist groups of a theocratic nature — as his “friends.” The assassination of Osama bin Laden at the hands of American special forces to him was a “tragedy.” He hosted in parliament Palestinian hate preacher Raed Salah and shared a stage with Dyab Abou Jajah, a Lebanese activist who said Europe had made “the cult of the Holocaust and Jew-worshiping its alternative religion.” Moreover, Corbyn donated money to an anti-Israel group led by a Holocaust denier and laid a wreath on the grave of a PLO terrorist involved in the 1972 Munich massacre of Israeli athletes.
This week it emerged that he had attended a highly controversial anti-Israel rally at Trafalgar Square in May 2002 that included members of radical Islamist groups al-Muhajiroun and Hezbollah. According to reports, men of al-Muhajiroun were dressed as mock suicide bombers and held placards reading “Palestine is Muslim.” They chanted “Skud, skud, Israel” and “Gas, gas Tel Aviv,” along their support for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Al-Muhajiroun is a banned terrorist organization which was led by high-profile Salafi militant Omar Bakri Muhammad and Anjem Choudary, a notorious British hate preacher and Islamic State recruiter, at the center of an international network of Islamic extremists. Their members have been linked to the 7/7 London bombings, the beheading of British soldier Lee Rigby, and the recent terrorist attack at London Bridge and Borough Market.
This is the company he keeps and Corbyn, in his own words, has been “involved in opposing anti-terror legislation ever since 1983.” He attacked his Conservative opponent, Theresa May, for cutting police forces while holding the office of Home Secretary. But had it been for him, our security services would be completely blind and we at the mercy of the barbarians at the gate. Corbyn positioning himself now as the guardian of British security must be one of the most bizarre occurrences of any election campaign ever.
He is nothing of the sort. Do not be fooled by Corbyn’s last minute attempt to hide his decades-long unholy allegiance with our enemies — from Islamic extremists to brutal dictators and anti-Semites, he never met an enemy of the West he did not like. His record speaks for itself.
Jeremy Corbyn is not a normal candidate. He is a threat to our national security. Vote Conservative, Liberal Democrats, Greens, or if you must, even the Monster Raving Loony Party. Destroy your ballot if you think none of them deserve your vote. But do not lend your support to a man in bed with people that seek to destroy us at a time the country is still recovering from the bloodshed of the last two weeks.
