Denmark’s foreign minister has reportedly ordered a comprehensive review of his government’s funding to Palestinian organizations suspected of promoting boycotts and inciting violence against Israel, The Times of Israel reported Wednesday.

“We must be sure that Danish assistance contributes in a positive way to the advancement of human rights in the Palestinian territories,” Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said in a statement released by his office.

“It’s possible, that following the inquiry we’re carrying out, we will have to halt funding for some Palestinian organizations,” Samuelsen added. “Until we reach conclusions, we won’t be signing on any new grants for Palestinian organizations.”

On Sunday, the United Nations announced it was pulling support for a women’s center, after Norway’s foreign minister had condemned the Palestinian Authority for naming the institution in honor of Fatah terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, who led a 1978 massacre in Israel of 38 civilians, including 13 children.

Earlier this month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Samuelsen to investigate the situation and gave him a list of Palestinian organizations that receive donations from the Danish government that Israel links to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign.

“We implement this policy even with regard to our closest friends, and warn them we cannot accept it that friendly governments support organizations that glorify terrorism and act against IDF soldiers,” Netanyahu said.

During his weekly Likud faction meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu also defended his decision to boycott foreign leaders who meet with left-leaning NGO’s working against Israeli soldiers. “You can meet me. But you cannot meet with these organizations and also meet with me,” Netanyahu stated. “Our soldiers protect us. And we will protect them,” he concluded.
