A Syrian drone was intercepted by a Patriot missile over the Israeli Golan Heights on Thursday evening, the Israeli military said.
“The IDF will not allow any breach of Israel’s airspace and will act against any attempt of infiltration,” the military stated.
According to the IDF, the drone was under “full [Israeli Air Force] surveillance” while it was operating in Israeli air space, The Times of Israel reported.
The launch of the Patriot missile was captured in a video filmed in the northern Israeli city of Safed.

Earlier Thursday, Damascus International Airport was rocked by a series of explosions that were attributed to but not claimed by Israel. Rebel groups said that a Hezbollah arms depot was targeted by the strikes.
The Patriot air defense system was built by the United States and has been deployed in Israel since the 1990 Persian Gulf War. During Israel’s 2014 war with Hamas, a Patriot missile shot down an unmanned drone that was launched by Hamas over the city of Ashdod.
