Israeli Moonbound Spacecraft, Beresheet, Transmits Spectacular Images and Video from Space

ISRAEL21c is excited to share these new images and videos transmitted to Earth from Beresheet, the privately funded Israeli unmanned spacecraft launched toward the moon from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on February 21.

The engineering teams of SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries, based in IAI’s control center in Yehud, downloaded these photos and footage taken by the small spacecraft at different heights and times along its journey.

If successfully captured by the lunar orbit on April 4, Beresheet will land on the Moon’s Sea of Tranquility on approximately April 11.

The video below shows the process of sunrise from Beresheet’s point of view. At first, the Earth hides the sun from the spacecraft and then the sun exits from the same shadow.

Here is a video selfie taken by Beresheet:

ISRAEL21c has been following the progress of SpaceIL since its start in 2011. Amy Friedkin, president of ISRAEL21c, introduced SpaceIL cofounder Yonatan Winetraub and principal donor Morris Khan at a panel session during the AIPAC Policy Conference taking place this week in Washington, DC.
