Israeli Troops Uncover 200 Pounds of Bomb-Making Material in West Bank Raid

A raid by Israeli security forces on a home near Nablus in the northern West Bank on Monday yielded over 200 pounds of bomb-making materials, the Israeli military said.

The raid was jointly carried out by the IDF, Israel Police, and Israel Border Police, the military said in a statement. In addition to the 200 pounds of explosive precursor, security personnel recovered 1.6 quarts of a prepared explosive material. The supplies were found in the house of a man who had previously been arrested, The Times of Israel reported. There is no indication whether the man is affiliated with any terrorist groups.

In a separate raid, the army discovered two pipe bombs and two Molotov cocktails in a home in the southern West Bank. The owner of the second home was taken in for questioning by the IDF.

Last month, Israeli security forces raided seven West Bank arms manufacturing workshops, confiscating dozens of illegal weapons. In December of last year, security forces broke up a Hamas terrorist cell and uncovered their bomb-making laboratory near Jerusalem. The cell was planning on conducting suicide bombings.

“This case reveals and highlights again the involvement of the military arm of Hamas from the Gaza Strip, which operates continuously with the intent of carrying out mass-casualty attacks within Israel and the West Bank,” the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency, said at the time.
