Report: Hezbollah Recruiting Christians, Druze, Sunnis for Next War with Israel

Hezbollah is working to recruit Christian, Druze, and Sunni youths for a possible future confrontation with Israel, the Lebanese newspaper al-Nahar reported (Arabic link) today.

The new enlistment campaign is using the slogan “Our fate is one and we must fight together” in order to attract young fighters.

The Shiite terror group is offering the recruits free arms and military training. Hezbollah is also promising to pay each person who joins its ranks more than $1,000 a month.

The fighters will join a new force named The Resistance Brigades, according to the report. This force will conduct training for the next possible war with Israel, but in the future it is also expected to fight ISIS, which is trying to infiltrate Lebanon.

A source in the Lebanese Bekaa Valley said that some Christians have already expressed a desire to join because of their unstable security and financial situation. Others were already members of factions in line with Hezbollah’s ideology.

Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah warned last week that rockets in the Iran-backed terror group’s arsenal were capable of hitting any place in Israel—specifically that Jerusalem “will not find a single piece of land” that rockets could not hit—and that Israel would be forced to close its ports in the event of a military conflict with Hezbollah.

Hezbollah is believed to have up to 100,000 rockets in its arsenal, and its leaders have for months been threatening confrontation with the Jewish state. The Lebanese terror group is believed to have constructed an underground tunnel network leading into Israel’s north, which its operatives could use to conduct a spectacular terror attack against Israel residents who live close to the Israel-Lebanon border.
