Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on his security forces to investigate the coup attempt by Hamas that Israel announced it had broken up yesterday.
Abbas indicated the report could severely impact the unity pact signed between Fatah and Hamas in June, saying it represents “a grave threat to the unity of the Palestinian people and its future,” the Palestinian news Agency Wafa reported.
The PA president also said the it could have “extremely dangerous” regional implications.
Obviously Prez Abbas is taking Israeli reports about Hamas coup in West Bank seriously. Ordered PA security to follow up with Israel.

Arrest of anti-Abbas coup plotters in West Bank seems to have caused Hamas capitulation in Cairo. Emerging deal meets none of Hamas demands

The breaking up of the coup attempt reported yesterday suggested “that concerns of a vast strengthening of Hamas in the weeks leading up to the kidnapping of three Israelis by Hamas members were far better founded than has been previously understood.”
Despite the significance of the news concerning the threat Hamas’ presents to Israel and the Palestinian Authority, mainstream news organizations played down the report, giving priority to the ceasefire talks.
