Day 33 – Rocket Fire Continues; Hamas Wants Airport; Rabbi Killed

Today was the thirty third day of Operation Protective Edge.

Since the ceasefire ended Hamas has fired roughly 100 rockets into Israel.

The Jerusalem Post reports that Israel will not return to ceasefire talks until the rocket fire ends.

Once the cease-fire formally ended, and Hamas fired rockets into Israel, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon instructed the IDF to respond “forcefully.”

It was also made clear that Israel would not conduct any type of negotiations under fire.

The full cabinet is scheduled to meet Sunday in Tel Aviv to discuss the developments.

Hamas and the Palestinian delegation are insisting that no ceasefire is possible without full acceptance of all of their demands “including giving the Gaza Strip its own airport and seaport.”

Rabbi Joseph Raskin of North Miami Beach was shot to death on his way to synagogue Saturday morning.

According to the NBC report, police did not have a good description of the shooters.

While police said there was no indication that the attack was a hate crime, in late July a swastika was spray-painted, along with the word “Hamas,” on the wall of a synagogue down the block from where Raksin was shot.

Two days earlier, two cars outside a house in Miami Beach were smeared with eggs and cream cheese, spelling out the words “Hamas” and “Jew,” NBC reported.

Last week American talk show host Sean Hannity interviewed a doctor, a soldier’s family and a soldier at the Soroka Medical Center in Israel.

The IDF released footage of its attack against a rocket launcher that was adjacent to a mosque. The mosque remained untouched.
