Speaking on CNN this morning, White House spokesman Josh Earnest called the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier, identified as Hadar Goldin, a “barbaric violation” of the 72-hour ceasefire that Israel and Hamas had agreed to.
“That would be a rather barbaric violation of the ceasefire agreement,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said on CNN. …
The United States urged the international community to condemn the Hamas ceasefire violation in the “strongest possible terms,” Earnest said.
Another White House official, Deputy National Security Adviser Anthony Blinken, also blasted Hamas.
The White House says the apparent abduction of an Israeli soldier would be an “absolutely outrageous” action by Hamas.
Tony Blinken is deputy national security adviser. Blinken says the U.S. strongly condemns the alleged abduction. He says that if the soldier has been kidnapped, he must be released.
White House officials weren’t the only ones to condemn Hamas’ brazen violation of the ceasefire. United Nations official Robert Serry stated that a kidnapping would constitute “a serious violation of the ceasefire by Gazan militant factions.”
