Save the Children, a UK-based non-governmental organization, yesterday publicized a biased public appeal to help the children of Gaza.
Part of the press release read:
What we’re seeing is a war on children who are trapped within the boundaries of Gaza. They have nowhere to flee to and many families are seeking refuge in schools and hospitals which are also now vulnerable to coming under fire.
The group’s statement lacked any acknowledgment of Hamas’ use of civilians, especially children, as human shields.
In the course of Operation Protective Edge, the IDF has returned fire against terrorists hiding in private houses.
They’ve hit weapon caches in residential neighborhoods.
And they’ve found rocket launchers just outside a school.
Most damning is the boast of a Hamas official that the terrorist organization calls on civilians to enter military targets, in contravention of international law.
Save the Children’s appeal would be much more convincing if it properly placed the blame for endangering children – and all civilians – squarely on the shoulders of Hamas, in accordance with the principles of international law.
