A Syrian plane attacked an aid convoy sponsored by a Turkish organization near the city of Aleppo killing one person.
Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) said that trucks carrying flour and blankets were caught in the middle of an air campaign late Thursday by the Syrian Air Force targeting rebel strongholds in the divided city.
“A Syrian citizen became a martyr while two others were wounded in the attack,” the IHH said in a statement.
Syrian civilians have been targeted by the government of Bashar al-Assad. In recent months attacks the regime has taken to using “barrel bombs” against civilians. These devastating weapons have killed hundreds in Aleppo alone. The Syrian regime’s assault on its civilians included a “terror famine” last year and has been characterized as “collective punishment.”
